New baby Avery project!

Just thought that baby Avery needed a Halloween shirt so I made her this:

I used the same concept that the boys and I used in our bleach t shirts a few months back in this post, here...only I had to add an itsy bitsy spider to go along with it :)
Seriously go try it with your kids!!!

I've linked this project up to SO many great blogs! Please follow me to see more great projects! 20 followers and we will have an AWESOME giveaway!

*But, if you don't have timeto make this, it's for sale in the shop

Avery's loot

As I had said before, Miss Avery was going to be SPOILED by her Auntie Emily when I visited last month. I could have gotten away with just carry on luggage if it hadn't been for all of the baby stuff I had to cram inside!

Lucky baby! I have literally been collecting things since the minute I found out that Katie was pregnant! I made the purple peacock onesie, and the tie dye onesie with a swallow on it. The other onesies were purchased from awesome sellers on etsy.com

Flea market fun

Two weeks ago when I was back home in Virginia, I was lucky enough to have some time to go to a large flea market with my friend Katie, her mom Carol and of course...sweet baby Avery. Katie and I have been exploring flea markets, garage sales, and thrift stores since we were 11 or 12 so this was a fun time to catch up, look at junk, and let the baby have her first ever thrifty experience!!

Here are a few pictures of some things that I did NOT buy, but found interesting.

1. Fresh VA produce...it really doesn't get much better than this! I bought a dozen peaches that my sisters and I gobbled up, and Carol bought a head of cabbage that probably weighed close to 12 pounds!! So delicious!

2. This vendor had 25+ old lunch boxes for sale. I don't know who Rachel B. is...but she was one lucky girl to have such a bad ass popples lunch box! I LOVED my popples growing up! If this had been in better shape, I would have had a really hard time walking away from it.

 3. Grasshopper making himself cozy on someones table
4. Vintage Disney alphabet plates. Katie really liked these. They were $60 for the entire set. She really only wanted the ones to spell out "Avery" above her crib, but the lady wouldn't break up the set. She talked the lady into selling her the whole set for $30, but when we looked through them, there were only 20 letters....not 26, and the V and R were gone. Oh Well.

5. Wiener dog shoe scraper/door stop thinggy. I was very tempted to get this and put it by the back door. It would have been especially good for Chicago winters to scrape snow off of your boots before coming inside. They were asking $40 for it and would not budge, so I had to pass.

Have you been to a good old fashioned flea market lately? What were your favorite, or most interesting finds? Long weekend coming up...I bet there are some good markets out there! Have a good one!

Katie's baby...

I've been friends with Katie since 5th grade. I have had a lot of friends give birth in the last few years, but this will be the first "old" friend, or a friend that I grew up with from a very young age. I am so excited for her and I can't wait to meet baby Avery.

Since she is back home in Virginia and I am here in Chicago, I was not able to make it for her shower, but don't you worry...I have some surprises up my sleeve for when Avery arrives. I was browsing etsy for some ideas on what to make this sweet baby girl this morning and fell in love with some of the adorable things that they had for momma's like Katie.

Katie knows pretty much everything about every animal and creature that roams the earth, especially locally in Virginia. Her parents, Carol and Hal, are experts and spent hours and hours teaching Katie and her brothers about all of the different species of deer, snakes, frogs, frogs, fish, turtles, etc, etc, etc that call Virginia home.
Here is my girl with a massive snapping turtle...once in high school she jumped into a pond after one of these and put it into my car because the owner of the pond was going to shoot it. Man, I hope she doesn't kill me for stealing this picture from her facebook!

Katie is also able to take normal, every day objects like PVC pipe...and make them into beautiful things like chandeliers! Man, I wish I had a picture of that thing!

She decided the moment that she found out that she was having a girl that she did NOT want any pink around the house or on her baby. At first I was like OK, no big deal...but its REALLY hard to find outfits and stuff that are not covered in the signature "baby girl" pink!!

Anyway, what are you getting at here, Emily?? Well, etsy has this feature where you can make a "treasury list" of things. Basically its just a collection of things you like for one reason or another. I've made a few before, its also another way to draw attention to your own shop because people look through your lists and then they can see who created them. I made one for Katie this morning and the stuff I found is SO stinkin' cute!! Go on over and take a peak...and if anyone wants to purchase all that stuff and send it to baby Avery, please do...ha ha ha
