OMG

Whats worse than thunder storms for 2 days straight?

Thunder storms AND 100 degrees!!

This weather is hell. I really like the rain. I do. I always have. But this rain is insane. It doesn't cool things off at all. Not one degree. As soon as I wash my hair and dry it, I open the back door and it instantly frizzes up again. I looked in the mirror the other night and my hair was all frizzed out and I realized that I AM my mother. Which is not so bad, she is a fabulous mother...but she has some wild ass hair, and I guess mine has a mind of its own now too. Ugh.

Oscar and Lyla don't even want to be outside. Oscar LOVES the sun usually. He lays around in any sunny spot he can find like a cat. Not this week. Just does his business and RUNS back in.

On another note...we took the kiddos to the Rainforest Cafe this weekend. Although the service is usually bad and the food is overpriced, it was all worth it because they both said it was the "best day ever!"

While we were waiting for a table, the boys wanted to go up and down the escalator by themselves, so we waited at the bottom and watched them. I caught this picture of them as Caiden was watching these girls in front of him. He is starting to notice girls, but won't admit it.

Weiner Dogs on Wednesday

Every night for the last 3 months this dog jumps into my bed with this firehose squeaky thing and insists on playing tug o'war for a while before bed.

Congrats to an old friend!!!

Last weekend one of my oldest, and dearest friends got married in the Florida Keys. Kurt and I were very sad that we were unable to make it, but from the pictures I can tell that it was beautiful and TONS of fun!!! Just like Steph and Mary!!

I've known Stephan (aka "The German" or "The dirty German") since 11th grade. He had just moved to the states from Berlin with his mom. We were in American Civ class together and he was failing at the time because he was having a hard time with the language, adjusting to being here without friends and family, etc. We talked in class but that was about it.

German's step-dad happened to be a medic at one of the local volunteer rescue squads, and we ended up being in EMT class together and having a lot of the same friends from the firehouse. I actually dated one of his friends and we all hung out non-stop the whole summer before college. I've lost touch with most of the other friends I had back then, but the German and I have stayed in touch through it all. Here are some favorite Dirty German moments.

1. He showed up to my graduation party and asked for a beer. He then referred to his parents as "those  fuckers..." in front of my grandma.
2. Once I said something about cuddling. He replied "is that like sheep?" He thought I meant cattle, not cuddle.
3. On September 11th, 2011 we both walked out of school after the planes hit the twin towers to go to the firehouse. He convinced me that it was a good idea to drive my car over a railroad tie that separated parking spots. FAIL.
4. A long drive into the middle of nowhere to pick up his German Shepherd, K9 officer Max.
5. When he introduced me to his WIFE!! She is awesome and perfect for him. She is an incredible artist, athlete, chef and she makes me laugh!

Congrats to you both!! A lifetime of love, with the love of  your life!!!

Happy Birf-day to my Momma!

Despite the fact that my sisters and I are 27, 25, and (almost) 22 years old, we STILL make momma some pretty kick-ass gifts, just as we did when we were 7, 5 and (almost) 2!

My mom is an amazing artist, and it's no doubt that we all got our  creativity from her. She taught us from a very young age to make beautiful art work with everyday items that we had laying around the house or that we found outside in nature, or even in the garbage!

I got this shadow box/frame at Michael's, on sale for $4. I Iris-folded the hexagon in the middle with scrap paper that I had around the house and the buttons were in my button jar. Insead of a card, I just used one of those silver sharpies and wrote a message to her on the back of the frame. Good to go. I love it, and I hope she does too.

Happy Birthday to the very best Momma a girl could EVER ask for!!!!

**also, Happy 84th Birthday to my Dadad!

sorry for the vaca...

It seems I have taken yet another step away from regular blog posts lately, and for that I apologize. I was in the hospital this weekend (again!?!) for a quick procedure to take care of a gallstone that was causing some serious pain and nausea for about 2 weeks!

A gallstone? Are you for reals? I had my gallbladder removed 3 months ago! How the heck does that happen??? I have NO idea, but some how, a little stone got lodged into a duct that it wasn't supposed to, but its gone now and we can move on with our lives!

Kurt, Oscar, Lyla and I are all just taking it easy after a very long and stressful few days...I advise you all to do the same, because it's stinkin' hot out there!!!

Cute little thank you...

Ever need a cute little thank you card/gift? Here is one of my favorite go-to ideas that I put together for a co-worker last week:

I always keep a few packs of  watercolor ATC around because they are thick paper, prefect for stamping and my favorite, sharpies!! They are also pre-cut, and perfect for just such a project. I usually get them from Michael's or Hobby Lobby with my coupon.
Anyway, I just stamped a quick owl on an ATC, colored in a few details, like his beak and eyes with sharpie, stamped the flourishes in the corner, inked the edges and wa la! I wrote a little message on the back thanking the person for what they had done.
I took a matching piece of ribbon and tied it around 3 granola bars and left it on his desk for a surprise breakfast.
Fast.Cute.Easy.Lets someone know you are grateful.
Saying thank you goes a long way.
(I grew up in a home where we were not allowed to have out Birthday/Christmas gifts until the thank you note/card was placed IN our mom's hand to be mailed to the person...and I wouldn't have changed it at all, because it made me a better person! Thanks Momma!)

I am not a baker.

No, no one took a bite out of this...it just kind of fell apart. I repeat...I am not a baker.

Eat your heart out, Duff Goldman!
