A day at the farm

Virginia, part 2
After a LONG day in court, we all went out to my good friend, Matt's parents farm and enjoyed the weather and time with the boys before they went back to their moms house. Jason and I chased chickens, and the boys launched rockets, and everyone relaxed a bit after a stressful morning.

Sweet southern comfort, carry on...

I know, I know...
I've been home for a week now. I should have edited and had all of these bad boys up by now. Well, I don't. I worked 6 days this week and have been working on several other projects as well, so I let this slip away from me.
Because there are so many pictures, they will have to be posted in several parts. I'll start with my very FAVORITE picture of the whole weekend. This is of my sweet boys and I, taken during an evening walk/metal detecting session. We found bottle caps, rusty nails, a few quarters (strategically placed by their daddy!) and a piece of a pipe. We also got 2 million mosquito bites. All worth it for this picture!

A wedding gift...

I have a co-worker who was throwing together a last minute wedding. I didn't really ask the details of why, but of course offered to help. I asked if she had a guest  book, and she said no, but that she needed to get one.
One thing that another bride shared with me while I was wedding planning, was NOT to get a guest book, because it just sits in the closet and collects dust. Instead, I opted for a pretty framed canvas with our last name painted on it (by my uber talented momma,) and had all the guests sign in  sharpie markers that coordinated with our wedding colors. It hangs in our room, and I love reading the little notes people wrote, and that seems like a much better idea than a book in the closet!
Anyway, I offered to make my co-worker something that people could sign that would grace the walls of her home, so here ya go.

I threw my shoe up there to show you all how big it is! Please ignore my messy carpet, Oscar just finished ripping a toy to smithereens!
How did I do it? Well, I started with a 24 inch letter from JoAnns for $9.99 (40% coupon made it $6,) painted it brown, made some felt flowers, and then cut out some felt leaves/vines and that was IT! So beautiful! Her guests signed with a fine point black sharpie.

Have a wonderful night!

Weiner Dogs on Wednesday

When it comes to the sun, this guy is part cat. He LOVES to lay around and get his tan on. I took this one when I got home today. He went out, did his business, and then sprawled out on the walkway.

When I asked him to kindly make his way inside (I had somewhere to be,) he gave me this smug look...

Home

After a very exciting 4 days back in Virginia, I am happy to be home and sleeping in my own bed. I have tons of pictures that I will be uploading as soon as I find the energy!
On a funny note, the rental car company gave me one of these bad boys to drive:

And I liked it! At first I was mad becuase I didn't think I could fit my suitcase full of baby gifts (as mentioned here and here) but it worked out just fine and by the end of the weekend, my sister and her boyfriend were begging for a ride in my little car! The hardest part was trying to get up Katie's VERY steep, gravel driveway!!

Once there were some hair clips...

...that didn't have any little girls to wear them.

I made these the other night, and had no one to test them out, so guess who had to get involved?

I may kill him...

As I posted earlier, I had been working on a really cute gift for my best friend's baby to learn her Virginia wild life and Kurt tried to "help" me touch up the paint.

Well here it is, folks.

Oops, wrong color. I'm not mad at him, only that it happened the day before I left for Virginia. Oh well :)

I'm not very good at this...

Dear everyone who I tried to link in my last post,
I'm sorry, I'm still learning. I LOVE your blogs, which is why I tried to link them. I realize now that I didn't do it quite perfectly. I hope my posting about you brings you new readers who are equally as in love with your posts as I am!
Love,

Whats with the changes?

Welllllll...
I'm glad you asked. I've been blogging for a while now and I have learned a lot from some AMAZING bloggers out there. Blogging is not something that can be learned any other way than reading other blogs. I've been doing that for years, but its only in the last 6 months or so that I have fallen so in LOVE with a few, that I absolutely have to get home and check to see what they have posted for the day.

Let me answer some questions before I go munch further.

Why read blogs?
Why not? In all seriousness, I love reading, and I love reading about other people. My hubs gets home every day from work, we eat, we talk, and he likes to watch a little TV. I don't dig on TV, so I read blogs.

What kind of blogs to you read?
If you look hard enough, you could find a blog on nearly anything. I really like reading "mommy blogs," and "craft blogs."
Just a few of the momma blogs I follow are
Project: BABY BlogKristen @ projectbabyblog.com She is hilarious and a brand new, super-mom of the uber cute Tinsley!
and

Rachel @ letters to ames. I hope I'm half the mom she is. She works full time as a nurse, she breast feeds twins, she cloth diapers, and is a momma of 5!!

Some of my favorite craft/DIY blogs are:
bedifferentactnormal.com
dollarstorecrafts.com
craftgossip.com

But my ALL time favorite thing to read is the combination of the 2. Crafty/DIY mommas who are hella inspiring and have really cute kids to blog about!!
I LOVE Sherry at younghouselove.com
Her and John blog about projects in and around their home. They are truly inspiring. Once, Sherry blogged about making a "painting" with their dog, Burger's paw prints for John's birthday, so I thought I could do it...and I ended up with green paint all over my kitchen! They do it all with too cute Clara at their feet, which I love! (plus they live in VIRGINIA!!)

and can't forget my girl, Natalie, at johnnyinadress.com!
Photobucket
She amazes me with her creativity, and balances it all with two super cute kiddos, one of which is special needs!

So there you have it, more than you ever wanted to know about why I blog!

And a new bloggy look, more on that later. Have a great hump day, everyone!!

Virginia trip so far...

Naturally I LOVE being back home in Virginia, but I can honestly say that it is EXHAUSTING!!
Here is my "schedule" so far:

Thursday:
4pm: Arrive at airport, pick up rental car. My parents both work and I'm impatient, so this prevents me from having to get rides and allows me to make all of the necessary visits to various people and places during my trip.

5:30pm: Drop suitcase off at Mom and Dad's, say hello if they are home from work. Pick up Aron's birthday present and head out there to spend time with boys in case custody case does not go as planned.

6:00pm: Arrive at Matt's and hang out with boys until it's time for bed. Give Aron his EIGHTH birthday present (I'm still having trouble with the fact that he is 8!) which is a metal detector. I'm sure we will have to detect some metal before I leave.

9:00pm: Drive back to Mom and Dad's house, hang out with Mom, sisters, dogs, and Dad (if he isn't on call) until I crash, face-first into my uber comfy, childhood bed

Friday:

6:00am: Wake up and get all fancy to go to court house for custody hearing, pray that judge does not call on me as a witness, I am not looking forward to this, but I will do what I need to for my boys.

8:00am: Court, I have no idea how long this takes, and depending on the outcome, I'm sure we will go out afterwards, or not, or play with boys, or not...I have NO IDEA!

Friday evening/afternoon: back to Mom and Dads, hang out with them and sisters, possibly go to Laura's and see her new place.

Drive to Potomac Mills to Scrub outlet and get new scrubs for work, woot! Buy gifts for hubby, because that's how I roll. There are also some badass fabric shops there, which could be dangerous!

Saturday:
AM: Wake up, get ready, drive to Hume and get Katie and baby girl to go to swap meet/flea market and then yard saleing for the rest of the morning/afternoon. Hang out with baby girl, give her lots of gifts, smell her, kiss her, hold her and soak every moment in.

PM: Back to parents and chill out, likely a BBQ...really hoping my dad is not on call. Possibly drive to grandparents house. My grandma has Alzheimer's pretty bad, I call her every week, but she rarely remembers :(

Sunday:
Flight at 7pm, need to return car by 4:30 and get to airport by 5
If I don't hang out with Laura earlier, this will be my Laura time.
No plans otherwise.

Could there be time in there for a tattoo? Some Christmas shopping? A visit with Heather and her sweet babes? I hear Bare Naked Ladies is playing in Fredericksburg this weekend...whose in?? Who else is in Warrenton this weekend?

epic fail...

So my husband is quite crafty despite the hard, manly exterior he pretends to have.

He usually helps me with manly things like sanding and spray painting. I think tonight may be the last night I ask for help.

I worked really hard on a puzzle for my friend Katie's baby girl. I bought a simple, toddler's puzzle with basic wooden shapes and spray painted the whole thing, and then put pictures of Virginia wildlife in each of the "holes" so that the baby would match the animals together.

Katie comes from a long line of outdoors men and women, and I wanted baby girl to have something to use to learn her animals from the start. There was a white tailed deer, raccoon, snapping turtle, bull frog, opossum, etc.

Anyway, Kurt thought he was helping and sprayed the wrong color on top and ruined the whole thing. Accidents happen, but man on man...36 hours before I leave for Virginia? Sucks to be me!

Shes only a month old anyway, I'll remake it and give it to her for her 1st birthday :) I'll post pics of the mess later.

Gotta get one of these...

Don't ask...

No, we're not pregnant!

...but we just couldn't resist!
I don't think it's a secret that as Kurt and I draw near to our 2nd anniversary, we have decided to start "not trying to not" get pregnant...what does that mean? If it is in God's plan at this point, then we would be absolutely thrilled, and if not, I'm not going to go insane counting days or taking my temperature and what not!

I love to re-do vintage things and thrift store finds, and thats not going to change once we have a baby. Prices of baby things are pretty insane. I've seen a few beautiful vintage high chairs on pinterest.com
and decided that I simply must find one to redo for the future baby Rosenbergh!

I had no intention of buying a high chair this weekend, but for the price, it was exactly what I wanted, it was safe, sturdy, and perfect, so we looked at each other and said, "Oh what the hell!"

OMG a new favorite color

So for the past 6-8 months i have been obsessed with Krylon's "Blue Ocean Breeze," for everything. It it can be sprayed...you better believe its been lookin' good in that beautiful blue color!

Well, I ran out in the middle of a project and Kurt was going out, so I asked him to stop and pick up somr more. Unfortunately (or fortunately?!?) he went to Lowe's and they don't sell Krylon, so he did the best that he could to remember what color it was and match it up. He picked up instead, Valspar's "Exotic Sea."
I'm in LOVE!!!!
Look forward to all kinds of new projects in this beautiful shade of turquoise!!

Weiner Dogs on Wednesday

The bug, showing off her new spots. She will be 2 in October and she grows new spots by the day...weirdo.

Mellow Yellow

Last night I was crafting away, not looking what I was doing as per my usual...and I got yellow fabric paint all over myself...my ironing board...and my craft table.

Then I used a yellow towel to clean it up, you know...so it wouldn't stain.

What a bum.

obsessed

I've been making these super cute flowers, inspired by Natalie's post on johnnyinadress.com, for 2 days...so cute and so easy!!

Cute craft, so easy.

I've done this before...but I never took pictures before because I'm a bum. This is a really cute t shirt craft that is simple and SO easy to clean up! I like tie dye just like everyone else, but seriously, it is NOT a craft for children!

We started with 5 for $10 colored t shirts from Michael's on sale. I pre-washed them so that the bleach would work a little better.

Then I just gave them one of those Clorox bleach pens and let them go to town. Kyle was just making abstract designs and Caiden started out by drawing a dinosaur, but then he didn't like it so he crunched it all up and it came out really cool.

Here are some pics of the finished products.

Super cute. Super easy. Super entertaining. Super easy to clean up AND Super cheap!

Weiner Dogs on Wednesday

Clearly not OUR weiner dogs...but a good weiner friend, Baby Jack from Wisconsin!

5 hour energy?

Anyone have some serious energy boosting tips? I am off of Coca Cola now for 10 days! Did you see that, Momma?!? 10 DAYS!!

I'm still getting tired and have a dull headache from the lack of caffeine. Hanging in there though. Going to beat it this time!

Have a good week!
