The Matisse pumpkin

This little guy was the easiest of all...

Grab a Dollar store pumpkin, a tube of craft paint...and go to town!

I like to think that this one is kind of inspired by one of my fav artists, Henri Matisse.

The Ribbon Pumpkins

Continuing with my pumpkin posts (inspired by my fall decor post), these two little guys were just as simple as the Cheesy Pumpkin!

The Ribbon Pumpkins!

The first little one is from the dollar store. I cut lengths of 2 different ribbons and pinned them in place. Probably one of the easiest projects you will ever do.

The second pumpkin is a paper pumpkin from Jo Ann's (the same on used for the Cheesy Pumpkin) that was painted orange with a green stem. Then I used 4 different ribbons and glued them into place. You can't pin them with the paper pumpkins. I tried.

Enjoy and happy pumpkin making!

Cheesy pumpkin

I've gotten an email or two about the pumpkins in my fall decor post, so since Halloween is in just a few days (really? When did that happen?? Didn't the pool JUST close?) I'll post about my pumpkins this week so that you can see how easy they were.

This first one is my FAVORITE!! The Cheesy Pumpkin!

I bought one of those paper pumpkins at Jo Ann's and used a 40% coupon making it a few dollars. Then I painted it using a mixture of off white and orange craft paint to get the right, Swiss cheesy color that I wanted. Then I used black to add the "holes."

The mouse (rat?) came from the Dollar Tree, about a million years ago. He is missing an eye...ah well. He serves his purpose.

Sunday school lessons

I decided that some of you out in bloggy land might teach Sunday school too, and like me, you might not like the old, boring craft ideas in the books that they give you...so I will share mine with you.

This lesson was on Moses and the burning bush. If you aren't familiar with the lesson, God speaks to Moses through a burning bush and tells him to go to the Pharaoh and free his people. Moses was scared that the Pharaoh would not believe him, so God gave him a miracle to show the Pharaoh. He told Moses to throw his staff onto the ground and it turned into a snake.

The craft in the Sunday school book was for me to draw a bush onto a piece of paper, and to have the boys glue pieces of red and orange tissue paper onto it so that it looked like it was on fire. LAME...especially for my boys, who I have a hard time getting interested in the crafts anyway!! So Kurt and I decided to do something with the staff and the snake idea. And this is what we came up with....
A staff ( 1x2 cut into 2 foot pieces) with dollar store snakes glued onto it, and the "memory verse" for the day glued onto it as well.

Oh hey! That kid is cute isn't he!! I have some cute pics of the other 2 boys in my class ( I have 3 boys, ages 5 and 6) but since I don't have the permission of their parents, I'm not going to post pics of other people's kids...so just enjoy my sweet Kyle.

Ugh

In case you don't hear from me all weekend...
Do not me alarmed. The physician I work for does vein procedures on Fridays. I assist him with all 8 in a row with a little lunch break tucked in there. It kicks my butt to be honest. At the end of the day my legs and back are usually killing me! I'm a wimp you guys!

Since these are elective procedures, a lot of patients are trying to get them in before the end of the year...which is REALLY quickly approaching! So we have a LOT of patients to get in, so I scheduled extra patients any place I could. Also, my boss is going out of the country in December, which doesn't help.

So yeah, we are doing TWELVE cases tomorrow. I knew it was coming, I scheduled it...I've had time to prepare for it, but I'm still not ready.

Hopefully I will be able to drive myself home, ha ha.

Weiner Dogs on Wednesday

...on Thursday
Oops! I let Wednesday get away from me this week. I had the boys, so it was a little nuts with the pouring rain, homework, dinner and getting ready for church. Ever had to convince an 8 year-old that he smells and needs a shower? Ugh! ha ha

Best sister, ever!

I just wanted everyone out there in blog land, who may not already know....that my sister, Hannah, is the best sister ever!
She would probably be all kinds of embarrassed if she knew I was posting this, and I don't really care.

She knew that I have been going through a lot lately with my health and some personal problems at home and also some issues at work because I had been calling her to vent. In my family we do a lot of venting, I know that it helps me to kind of get things off of my chest and move on. I never expected this delivery from a poor college kid to arrive at my door! And they're orange! And in an orange vase! They could not be more perfect! They brightened my day!

I love you, Hannah Bean! Ace Face! Butthead! You are the best baby sister a girl could ever ask for!!

Weiner Dogs on Wednesday

Fall weather is coming and these guys have started their nightly "burrowing." Especially Osc. He loves to be wrapped up like a burritos in blankets, towels, whatever he can find!

Fall Wreath

I've been seeing a ton of cute wreaths out in blog world so I decided to try my own. I didn't feel like buying anything, so I just looked around the house. I used a foam wreath and some left over burlap from my fake "mantle" fall decor, shown here.

I wrapped the foam wreath in burlap and hot glued it in place.

Then I just made a few flowers with fabric I had. I even used an old sweater that I was going to throw out anyway, because it had a hole in it. The brown corduroy was from a pair of Kyle's paints that I had cut off into shorts because they were too short.

I was going to hang it on the front door, but the only person to see it would be the mail man, since we never use the front door, and neither do any of our guests, so I'm going to have to find a place in the house or on the back door to put it!

Comfort Food

Do you have a food that just makes everything all better? Something that just makes you think of home? or your mom? A food that you will eat no matter how sick you feel?

Well mine is peanut butter and jelly...and usually Coca Cola, although I am slowly trying to cut that out of my diet!

When I woke up from my gallbladder surgery, the first solid food I had was PB& J!

What is your comfort food of choice?

Midwest Dachshund Festival 2011

Kurt and the dogs and I went to our 2nd doxie fest down in Danville, Illinois back in September. We took Kyle as I discussed in this post.

We had a great time, and I think Kyle did too, although he has a hard time expression how he feels sometimes. It's hard having a nephew with a disability that you cannot see with your eyes...because everyone assumes that he is fine. Anyway, lets not go down that road right now :)

This post will be very picture heavy, as there were SO many great things to see! Obviously these are not all of our dogs, but you will certainly recognize Osc and Lyla Buggy in some of them.        **Some of these pictures were taken by my very talented friend, Michelle. Thanks Michelle! You ROCK!!

The one of Oscar poking his nose out of the stroller and the 2 close ups that Michelle took of Kyle take my breath away!! Just wonderful!! Have a great day!
